Thriving Through the Finish Line
Dignity Dash

Brave Space Alliance’s Dignity Dash 5K fundraiser returns this year to make the statement that trans people have always been and will always be here; and we will not just survive but thrive.

This is more than a race — it’s a movement. Join us in “Thriving Through the Finish Line.”

FAQs

Where will we be running?

The Dash will start and finish at the AIDS Garden Chicago, 3003 N Lakefront Trail, Chicago, IL, 60657, with a northern turnaround point at Peace Garden.

Will start times be varied?

Yes! Start times are as follows:

  • 10 AM Heat 1 - Bikers

  • 10:05 AM Heat 2 - Runners

  • 10:10 AM Heat 3 - Walkers, Strollers, and Adaptive Athletes

Dignity Dashers will be notified via email and in their race packet what heat they are in. Times may be subject to change, so be sure to check all Dash affiliated emails.

Where can I park / How can I get there?

Parking onsite at AIDS Garden Chicago is limited — we encourage participants to park along N Sheridan Rd. and walk to the site from there. The AIDS Garden is within walking distance from CTA bus stops for routes 77, 134, 143, 151, and 156.

How should I wear my race bib?

Bibs must be worn on dashers' front torso or chest. Bibs may not be transferred between dashers.

Can I bring a stroller and/or my pet?

Strollers are allowed, yes! We ask that all racers with strollers run in the 8:40 AM Adaptive Athlete heat. Animals, however, will not be permitted at the Dignity Dash.

Will there be a place to store my belongings?

Gear check will be available beside the Check-In Station. Please be sure you have everything you need for your run before checking your bag.

Will the Dash continue in the event of rain?

The Dash will go on rain or shine! However, in the event of lightning or other hazardous weather on the day of the Dash, we will cancel or postpone. Our evaluation will include present and probable conditions throughout the course of the run.

On event day, all weather alerts and announcements will be posted to our Instagram, @bravespacealliance. Prior to event day, announcements will be made by email.

"In a time when there is so much negativity, so much harm, [BSA] continues to show up and provide services rooted in their Four Pillars of Dignity (Health, Housing, Food, and Identity). They continue to do the work and support some of our most vulnerable community members via support groups, housing aid, food aid, and a safe space to gather."
